Once the wedding dress has been selected it is on to the next part of the wedding shopping, the accessories! A veil is the finishing touch to a gown, and it is a very important part to those who are having a traditional church wedding. So here we have provided the types of veils out there, and which ones are most suited to the different types of wedding dress styles. Cathedral and Royal Length Veils
The general rule is the more fitted the gown, the longer the veil. For example: The mermaid style is perfect with a cathedral or royal length veil.
Ideally, most long veils will be past the length of the train. This is also a great option for those brides who are going for the features and open back, as the veil will show through beautifully with the exquisite details on the bridal gown.
Fingertip Veil
The ball gown/princess is the most full skirt style on a wedding gown with its many layers or hoop helping to achieve this.
Along with the fitted bodice making this style a perfect look with a fingertip veil. This will draw the eye to the waist line emphasising the figure beautifully and complimenting the dress. The skirt holds so much volume and shape that any long veil will take away the detail and style of the wedding gown.
Short and Fingertip Veils
The A-Line/Modified style works well with a short or fingertip length veil.
These veil styles will suit the proportions of the gown perfectly as the bodice is more fitted around the waistline area and the skirt carries the volume providing the focus to be concentrated more around the waist.
Vintage Bird Cage Veil
The short styled wedding gowns work lovely with the birdcage veils. This gives the vintage style look whilst still keeping the classic elegant feel.
Any other type of veil will not work as well with this particular style of dress as it is short. The proportion needs to balance out well with the accessories so they flow well together and complement each other.
Any details on the wedding dress whether it be sparkle, satin, lace or beading, can be incorporated with the veil by including these details on it when selecting your accessories.
